HOW TO GRADE CEDAR POSTS

Cedar Posts are graded in two ways:

The first number ( 7 x 4 ) is the length of the post.

The second number ( 7 x 4 ) is the measurement of the small end of the post.

To determine the graded size of a post you take the last number and multiply it by 3 to obtain the approximate circumference. So a 7 x 4 would be 7 feet long and 12 inches around the small end.
